S0.45965. The text of the Benedictus is taken from the final two phrases of the Sanctus, the fourth section of theOrdinary of the Mass. Composers have often set it independently from the Sanctus. This setting wasoriginally composed for Selina Midkiff and the Appalachian Children’s Chorus in Charleston, WestVirginia. The original consisted of only the two soprano parts from Choir 1 and Choir 2. I decided tocompose alto, tenor, and bass parts for the first two sections, creating a double choir effect for the finalsection. Although it is scored for double choir one will find the individual parts easily accessible for anychurch, school, or community choir.
