Level IV. This is an Aretha Franklin style, slow bluesy gospel tune in 3. 4 time. It features the lead tenor saxophone, as it was first performed by Seamus Blake and the UNCG Jazz Ensemble. This features lots of plunger work by the brass. On the original recording, a Hammond B3 replaced the piano, which is an option, too. Gospel begins bare bones and boils to a rousing finish. It is an extremely satisfying piece to play. 8 Brass.
