Japan's warrior class, known as the samurai, emerged in the 12th century and endured for seven hundred years. They were private soldiers hired by wealthy landowners to protect property. Adorned in lacquered metal armor, their weapons included the dagger, bow, and sword. While history tells us how people lived, music communicates how they felt.
