This folio contains 42 pieces which can be played solo or with a chord instrument. This great collection includes music from the Spain and South America. Most of the pieces have been extended with variations, which make the tunes a more suitable length for performances. Allan Alexander has also included four pages of extensive performance notes on the pieces in the book, to give you the opportunity to place the piece in its historical and musicological context. Every tune in the book is also included on the digitally mastered CD. Though the tunes are very effective as solo material, they are made even more spectacular with guitar accompaniment. For the player who is new to music of Spain and South America, the recording will give insights into the melodies, and it will allow the flutist who has no access to a chord instrument to hear and play along with the guitar as the flute part can be turned down by fading one channel.
