Published by David Warin Solomons (A0.575800).Many years before Lloyd Webber's "Cats" I created my own setting for TS Eliot's "Song of the Jellicles" (from Old Possum's book of practical cats) Originally it was intended for choir, but the estate of T S Eliot would not let me use the poem itself as a choral piece. However, they did allow me to use the word "Jellicle" in my instrumental titles. Each version follows the rhythms of the T S Eliot poem. The pdf file here contains the score and parts The sound sample is an electronic preview The versions available are: A duo for descant recorder and guitar (Jellicle Duo for recorder and guitar) A quartet for recorders (Jellicle Quartet for recorders) and A quartet for strings (Jellicle Catgut for string quartet) There is also available a choral version of the music following the recorder quartet version, which is a drinking song for SATB choir, with new words by Jill Mitchell called "Praise to the Vine".
