Traveling long distances to forage for food, the Pacific Leatherback sea turtles travel throughout the Pacific Ocean in groups. Their favorite food is jellyfish. They move through the water easily because they are shaped like a tear-drop and can achieve speeds of up to 20 miles per hour. They are dark grey or black with spots of white. Pacific Leatherback sea turtles can grow up to 6 feet long and can weigh up to 850 pounds. The Pacific Leatherback sea turtle has recently become critically endangered because its nesting populations have declined dramatically and because trawling lines frequently catch and drown them.
