For the advanced and adventuresome children's choir, or any treble choir looking for something highly original and a bit unusual. The language of these pieces is the syllable, not words. The first etude ("Echoes") is a rather innocent exploration of bitonality created by two melodies, each a bit in its own world; the second ("Fanfare") creates a wide sonic palate with bitonality again a feature as the voices emulate trumpets; and the third ("Festive Ostinato") features a unison melody joined by a small drum sounding the ever-present, ever-dramatic ostinato. A Czech childrens's choir provides am exemplary performance of this challenging, fun piece on the SBMP CD titled "MultiCultural.".
