           F G Am C G
it was the strangest thing today
          G7 G6 F G
i saw new footprints in abandoned pathways
Am C G G7 G6
beneath forgotten undergrowth something stirring again
           F G Am C G
you were a single red blood cell
      G7 G6 F G Am
but i lost you in this knot of capillaries
             C G G7 G6
but you were bringing me oxygen when i needed it most in the

[Chorus]
Dm
as far as Mongolia, as close as my clothes
Am
your presence pervading, but it still never shows
C F
as close as the answer i never quite know, or can’t quite remember
Dm
your distance insidious, as soft as a blow

your shadow is with me wherever i go
C F

    F G Am C G
the forced proximity
    G7 G6 F G
of a million different mike leigh movies
Am C G G7 G6
makes me long for the fresh air of a familiar face
            F G Am C G
and not the violence of loneliness,
G7 G6 F G Am
nor the unease of surrounded seclusion
       C G G7 G6
i keep nearly missing you around corners and in passing trains

It's really hard to place the chords because some words are sung quickly
and some very slowly but you get the idea, hopefully :)

In my opinion it sounds slightly better if you do the following progression in the verse - F 133210 --> slide to 355430 --> Am --> C --> G 300003 --> G/C thing 302013 Great chords otherwise.

Yeah, I agree with Sameth, aside from some small changes of my own. I play that G/C chord like so: 3X0003 ->(hammer on)->3X0013->(then back off)->3X0003.If I'm not feeling lazy, then 320003->320013->320003 can also work.
